MANILA, Philippines – Kelsey Robinson led Team USA to victory with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-20 victory over Bulgaria in the second week of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) on Wednesday. At the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Robinson led the defending champions to a balanced attack with 14 points, including a match-clinching spike that completed their bounce-back victory from a three-set defeat to unbeaten leader Japan in Week 1 at Shreveport-Bossier City.
Robinson, who competed in Team USA’s gold medal race at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, said: “I’m glad to be back in the USA jersey and with my amazing teammates and have fun playing some new faces.
“We have some young players who are going to gain some experience. So it’s all about binding back our rhythm, ”he added.

Daniel Coutinho was also helpful with 10 assists and 12 points built on two blocks. Middle blocker Hannah Tap chips 11 points in nine attacks, one block and one ace, while Haley Washington shoots four service tapes to add 10 markers.
Team captain Hancock Micha organized Team USA’s offense to improve to a 4-1 record with 12 points for a single second pick.
“We talked about not having expectations, just playing the hardest and hopefully the result will be Ws (win). We just have to go out and play hard every night, “said American Setter.
USA coach Kirch Kirali will miss the VNL’s Queens City leg with veteran spokespersons Jordan Larson and Annie Drus as they continue their campaign against Poland on Friday.
Bulgaria leaned on Miroslava Paskova’s 14-point effort as it absorbed the fourth rate in five matches. Silvana Chauseva and Maria Yordonava are nine and eight points, respectively.
