At the main event of the UFC Fight Night on Saturday night, Brazilian Caitlin Vieira stunned former champion Holly Holm in a controversial split decision over their women’s bantamweight bout.
The cards went 48-47 across the board, two for Vieira and one for Holm.
However, Holm landed more strikes (188-122) and significant strikes (96-85), gaining a 10:04 lead in control time. Holm also scored a knockdown goal in the fourth round with a sidekick.
“I felt (Vieira) was Round 2, but at the end of the fight, I really felt in my heart that I had won the fight,” Holm later said. “So, I’m disappointed. … I don’t really give him three rounds. “
Vieira almost submitted to Holm with a back-nosed choke standing in the second round.
