MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines snapped a four-game rate spell after losing to the University of the East 25-23, 26-24, 25-17 at the Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday in the UAAP Season 84 Women’s Volleyball.

The Fighting Maroons waited until the third set to move away from the hard-fought Lady Warriors, taking a 22-14 lead on their fourth win against four defeats.

“It’s been a while. As I’ve said before, like any other team we struggle, we have to find our rhythm. We want to win, we want to win more games and that’s what we’re doing,” said Godfrey Okumu, head coach of the Fighting Maroons.

UP’s last win was at University of Santo Thomas, last May 10, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22 games.

Alyssa Bartolano led the Fighting Maroons with 14 points to help the Lady Warriors push their eighth straight draw.

UP’s next assignment is UST, which is on a three-game winning streak, as UE tries its first win against Adamson on Saturday.
