Manila, Philippines-La Salle raced from six points in the third set to beat the University of the Philippines 25-21, 25-23, 25-21 on Tuesday and finished second in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball at the Mall of Asia Arena.

While the Fighting Maroons were trying to extend the match with a strong performance in the third, the combined forces to ensure the No. 7 victory of Thea Gagget and Aleya Malaluan Lady Spykers.

From a 10-16 deficit, La Salle turned the table to take a 19-17 lead in back-to-back kill-blocks by Gaggett. UP took a last-ditch move, tying 21-21 on an attack error in La Salle, but soon Malaluan touched a four-point windup.

La Salle is in second place with Santo Thomas University with a 7-3 record. The Lady Maroons suffered their second consecutive defeat for 4-6 cards.

Malaluwan top-scored with 14 points for La Salle, scoring nine kill-blocks that disappointed the UP attackers.
