MANILA, Philippines – Faith Nisperos unloaded 22 points as defending champion Atenio Adamson, 25-20, 28-26, 25-22, made it to the last four of the UAAP Season 84 Women’s Volleyball Arena Mall on Saturday night.
In the third set the Lady Falcons faced a 21-20 last-ditch effort, with Nisperos pushing a deep corner and then following it with another hit to help keep the match away for the Blue Eagles.
The Blue Eagles can continue their title-holding bids, but not without great fear.
Atenio will take the University of Santo Thomas step-by-step on Tuesday to claim the right to challenge No. 2 team La Salle, which will have a double beat shield. Finalist National University is waiting at the top of the stairs.
Adamson went down from four set-points to two consecutive set-points. But Atenio stretched out to get the frame back.
Nisperos, Vanessa Gandler, fired from the AC minor cylinder as the Blue Eagles defeated Lady Falcons 23-15 in the second set.
“The will of the Lord is unalterable no matter what happens,” said Oliver Almadro, a relieved Atenio coach. “And our players have moved on. We can live another day. Hopefully we can be better than our best every day and in the days to come. ”
