The 5-foot-11 open Spyker unloaded 23 points for the Blue Eagles who will lose twice next Thursday in the second round to the La Salle Lady Spyker.
Fighting in the UST defense, Atenio took control of the first zoom of the 11-6 lead. But soon the Tigers find their notch, igniting a 10-4 rally to take a 16-15 slim lead in the technical timeout of the starting set.
UST Atenio scored four kill-blocks in the first frame to frustrate the Spykers and clicked on the defense but the Blue Eagles turned the table, blocking Aya Lor at the set-point to draw the first blood.
The Tigers took an 18-14 lead in the next set, only the Blue Eagles scored the next seven points for a 21-18 lead in a smash by Laure.
Yet Lor and Isa Jimenez tried to push UST with hits to take advantage of 23-22. It scores backwards before Nisperos and Vanessa Gandler set foot on the gas, securing the set for a kill-block Atenio.
