MANILA, Philippines – National University won the third consecutive championship in the UAAP 3 × 3 Women’s Basketball Tournament on Friday at the CaSoBe Resort in Kalatagan, Batangas.

In their first tournament without multi-title coach Pat Aquino, the Lady Bulldogs were strong and won another perfect UAAP 3 × 3 title with a 21-18 win over the University of Santo Thomas in the winner-take-all-final.

In the final, Camille Clarin unloaded eight points, shooting from deep to 2-for-6, as NU extended her winning streak in the tournament to 20 games.

He also took eight rebounds and five assists, as Christine Kayabab chipped in six points and seven boards, with Ann Pingol and Angelica Surada adding four and three markers, respectively.

Kyabab has 59.8 seconds left to finish the UST, providing a championship-clinching putback from Clarin’s miss.

“It simply came to our notice then. In my mind and heart, I have made sure that no matter what happens, I do not get tired. I’m offering my last shot to my teammates because we really deserved it (the championship), “said Kayabab in the Filipino.

Jovilin Pangilinan carries the UST, scoring 14 of his team’s 18 points. In the semi-final against the University of the Philippines, his teammate Tantay returned with an injury to his left knee. He tried to play in the final but stumbled across the floor for 56 seconds against NU.

NU fourth-seeded Atenio, 21-20 closed the bold stand.

When the Blue Eagles tied the game at Jazmin Jason’s two-pointer and Gemina Miranda 20, Surada came to the rescue for the Lady Bulldogs with a game-winning lay-up with four seconds left.
