Manila, Philippines ব Bobby Mark Parks is committed to the National University for UAAP Season 86.
The 21-year-old will take up residence at Season 85, which opens in September. He will qualify next year and will have three playing years.
Parks is the younger brother of Bobby Ray Parks Jr., a former Bulldog who played at UAAP from 2011 to 2013 and won back-to-back MVP seasons 74 and 75.
NU coach Jeff Napa confirmed the development and thanked Mark’s skills coach Joe Gotanko for helping them recruit Filipino-American guards.
Napa insisted Mark would just play his game and not worry about the pressure to follow in the footsteps of his brother Roy, who recently signed an extension with Nagoya in the Japan B League.
“He came right in because we’re going to lose the JLC now (he won’t actually have a senior player like John Lloyd Clement once),” the Bulldogs coach said. “We hope he plays his game without pressure as Roy’s brother.”
The 6-foot-5 guard played for Waubonsi College Division 1 in Illinois.
