Tuesday with Gorni: Breaking the rival camp series in Philly

Rival National Recruitment Director Adam Gorny It was Rival Camp Series On Sunday in the Philadelphia area and he saw a lot of top East Coast prospects that made an impression. Here are some of her thoughts with Gorny this Tuesday:

Okunlola is really impressive

Samson Okunlola

Samson Okunlola

There are currently six offensive tackles rated higher than Samson Okunlola but that could change once the ranking meeting ends in early June.

Braintree (Mass.) Thai’s academy standout completely dominated the rival camp from start to finish, backing up his performance at another event over the weekend. The mid-level four star has clearly shown that he is one of the best offensive tackles in the class.

Okunlola, who is also a star wrestler, is physically fit, his legs move well, he has long arms, he has a great punch, he moves well for a competitor and someone of his size, so the phrase “complete package” must come to his mind.

There will be controversy over where he is placed in the top-level offensive tackle but I wouldn’t mind seeing him in No. 3 overall behind Pleasant Hill (Iowa) Southeast Polk and Bradenton (Fla) only five stars behind Cadin Proctor. .) Francis Mauigoa of IMG Academy.

But in terms of the Polish offensive tackle that fits the bill for those of us looking for a position, an argument can certainly be made to keep him above number 3 on the list. He was very good and was influential in Sunday camp.

Other OL standouts

Jordan Siton

Jordan Siton

Jordan Seaton is currently the top-rated offensive guard in the 2024 class and it would be hard for me to believe that anyone is good at this stage. Washington (DC) St. John’s College High Standout is huge, barrel-chested, runs well and what I like is that he plays with an average streak.

Siton does not lag behind in any competition, he learns from his mistakes and that drive can be really good. It could be an impressive offensive guard hole in the 2024 class but someone really needs to make it to the top seat in the position rankings.

Thomas River (NJ) Thomas River North 2025 Offensive Tackle The size of Jaelyn Mathews is great and could be one of the best players in her position in her class. Rutgers promises John Stone is a fighter and mauler inside. After a few representations, three-star Tosin Babalade stuck things out and then started controlling the defensive linemen with great base and great length. Liam Andrews needs to add weight (he just checked in under 259 pounds), he moves well, feels great and the frame can develop over the next few years.

Insights about Aguero

Jonel Aguero

Jonel Aguero

If you think Zonal Aguero is a lock for Georgia, think again. Because that’s not the case – or so he said during Sunday camp where he did not participate but was on the sidelines and broke his appointment.

The four-star athlete who has been touring repeatedly at LSU has made a huge impression on Danvers (Mass.) Now playing at St. John’s Prep, which could also be the new school for the new Tiger coach. Brian Kelly. LSU isn’t the only program that gives it a serious push, though, Ohio State certainly tops the list with Florida and Miami.

Georgia is absolutely in controversy, but loses the assistant coach Jahmile Adde The hurricane was a significant loss. After visiting other schools recently – and planning more trips soon – Aguero’s future is anyone’s guess.

Watson, the other QBS was impressive

Michael Van Buren

Michael Van Buren
William Watson

William Watson

The knock of three-star quarterback William Watson is that he is small in size but he has physically met in the last one year and is only 5-feet-11, this should not be a big problem at the next level.

Springfield (Mass.) Springfield Central can deliver the ball sitting in a standout pocket but he feels more comfortable escaping and either runs by resetting his foot throw or throw. Although Watson, Nebraska is committed, from the small side he can certainly spin it well and his accuracy on Sunday was impressive with the speed of the ball.

Another quarterback who made a special impression was 2024 Baltimore (Md.) St. Francis standout Michael Van Buren, who recently received an Alabama offer. Van Buren isn’t much bigger than Watson – they could be the same height – but the 2024 four-star was incredibly accurate on a deep ball, especially a solid throw in the last zone corner. Now ranked 11th in the 2024 Pro-Style Quarterback Rankings, Van Buren may not be able to rise to the top but may take an increasing step up the list.

After all, Iowa quarterback Commit Marco Laines had moments but he had some balls and it didn’t come out of his hands like Watson and Van Buren. Is he a four star? This will make for a debate in the ranking meeting because he has made many impressive throws and he has a great physique to hold the big pull, but he is not the most dynamic passer so this is something we will find out.
