Gaining the confidence he could win again, Chihiro Ikeda embarked on a journey for a second consecutive victory starting on Tuesday when the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour (LPGT) went to Laurel in Batangas for the ICTSI Splendido Tal Challenge.

After overcoming a nearly three-year-long drought, Ikeda returned to the winning circle last month at nearby Lipper Mount Malarayat, where he stunned Chanel Avaricio with a shot. He has his crush under swing guru Bong Lopez, wanting to stay sharp the rest of the season.

Ikeda, who plays for Manila Southwoods, said: “This win has dispelled all doubts that I will be able to win again. “But considering the quality of the field at Splendido, it will be difficult to win backwards.”

Avaricio will be there while shooting for the third title this season. Hermione Constantino has also joined together with Sunshine Barracks, winner of the Highlands leg last year.

Korean Hwang Min Jiang won the last LPGT event in Splendido in 2019, losing to Princess Supral by a margin, and this layout will again present the same tough challenge for the field with the wind blowing at this time of year.

Avaricio won the Hello Ridge and Calaria stops and Malaraita had an add-on pick, holding it together for 54 holes only for Ikeda and finishing as the only player under-par.
