MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine men’s beach volleyball team reached the semifinals of the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday after sweeping Cambodia in Vietnam’s Tuan Chou Beach.
Jude Garcia and Krung Arbasto Chuk lost to Sophia and Thai Menhung 21-15, 21-16.
Runran Abdilla and Jarron Requinton completed the Cambodian sweep, losing to Om Narit and Som Smith 21-14, 21-14.
The Philippines secured a place in the semifinals 2-0 in Pool A after sweeping Singapore on Sunday.
Requinton and Garcia were separate partners when they won bronze at Subic’s 2019 SEA Games.
Abdilla was part of the men’s national volleyball team finishing the historic silver medal three years ago, when Arbasto began teaming up with Garcia last year and reached the quarterfinals of the 2021 AVC Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championship in Phuket, Thailand.
The men’s national beach volleyball team will face Vietnam for the No. 1 seed in Pool A on Wednesday at 3pm (Manila time).
