MANILA, Philippines – Sarah DeQuinan finished runner-up in the women’s heptathlon, while Mark Harry Dioness also won a silver medal in the men’s triple jump at the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday at My Day Stadium.
Dequinan, winner of the 2019 SEA Games, scored 5,381 points and missed his chance to retain the title, falling short of Vietnam’s 5,415.
Dequinan surpassed his previous record of 5,101 points. But his best was not enough to repeat himself as a gold medalist.
His compatriot, Alexei Caimoso, finished fifth with 4,375 points in his first SEA Games.
In the men’s triple jump, 15.87m silver Dionysus Andre Anura Anwar of Malaysia jumped 16.51m for gold.
Meanwhile, Robin Brown won a bronze medal in the women’s 400m hurdles, trailing gold medalist Lan Koch Thi (56.33) by just 0.11 ticks, 56.44 seconds, and runner-up Huan Nguyen Thi (56.41), 0.03.
William Morrison, who won gold in the shot put on Monday, finished third in the men’s discus throw with a time of 50.44m, followed by gold medalist Muhammad Irfan Shamsuddin of Malaysia (56.26) and silver medalist Kiadpradid Sreesai (51.18) of Thailand.
