SEA Games: Kurt Barbosa Taekwondo in the Philippines holds gold

MANILA, Philippines – Kurt Barbosa survived as expected in the men’s under-54kg gold medal at the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday at the Te Ho Gymnasium in Vietnam.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympian Barbosa won the gold medal for the Philippine Taekwondo team with a great 16-7 victory in the final, with Thailand’s Panchai Jaizular winning the title.

Indonesia’s Reynolds Atmanegar, 44-42, forged a gold medal match against the Thais in the National University Standout semifinals.

Earlier in the quarter-finals, he dominated hometown bet Ngoc Lam Duong, 31-10.

Barbosa also dominated the finweight division at the 2019 SEA Games, beating Atmanegara in the final at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
