MANILA, Philippines – Johan Chua won the men’s 9-ball singles title at the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Wednesday at the Ha Dong Gymnasium in Vietnam, beating Carlo Biado 9-6.

Chua jumped on a costly mistake in the 15th rack to beat current U.S. Open champion Biado to claim his first gold medal at the SEA Games.

At 6-7, Biado missed a golden opportunity to extend the All-Filipino final, missing a beeline shot from 8 balls that put Chua on an easy table.

Chua and Beado won bronze medals as partners in the 9-ball doubles event at the 2019 Games in Manila.

This is the second gold in Philippine billiards at the SEA Games after Rubilen Amit reigned 9-ball for the women on Tuesday.
