MANILA, Philippines: Yumir Martial rarely sweated on his way to a gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games on Sunday.
Hard-hitter Martial needed just one round to beat Delio Anjakechi of Timur Leste in the men’s middleweight final at the Vietnam Back Back Gymnasium.
Marcel, who claimed the gold medal in his fourth SEA Games, quickly practiced aiming from his enemy and counted two standing eight before the referee could see enough and cancel the one-sided fight.
Marshall’s victory brought the Philippines their third gold medal, followed by Rosen Ladon and Ian Clark Bautista in their respective events.
Ladon claimed the flyweight gold after a split decision against Vietnam’s Van Thao Tran when Bautista dominated Myanmar’s Ning Lat in the bantamweight final.
Irish Magno, the last Filipino to fight for gold, is hoping to make it four out of four later.
