MANILA, Philippines – Carlo Biado and Johan Chua secured gold medals in the Philippine pool at the 31st Southeast Asian Games after hosting the All-Filipino final in the men’s 9-ball singles division on Tuesday.
Biado advanced to the semifinals after beating Singapore’s Allosius Yap 9-6 in the semifinals at Ha Dong Gymnasium in Vietnam.
Biado, 38, defeated Yap 13-8 to win the prestigious US Open title in return fashion in September last year.
Chua, meanwhile, had a relatively easy time in the semifinals after Lian Han Toh, another Singaporean, returned 9-3.
Biado and Chua were partners in the men’s 9-ball doubles event at the 2019 Games in Manila where they finished with a bronze medal.
