MANILA, Philippines – Samhang Basketball NG Polypinas (SBP) is taking full responsibility for finishing the disappointing silver medal for the men’s national basketball team at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.

SBP President Al S Panelilio issued a statement Wednesday morning, acknowledging the guilt and apologizing to Filipino fans.

“We share the frustrations of our Filipino basketball fans at Samahang Basketball n Philipinas and take full responsibility for promoting the results of our 31st Southeast Asian Games,” Panellio wrote in a statement.

“We’re sorry we were short and couldn’t give our teams the much better support they need to hold on to gold.”

The 13th-edition dynasty of Gilas Philipinas ended the men’s basketball tournament at the SEA Games in Indonesia, after a sweet shoot at 85-81 and after winning the gold medal last Sunday.

This is the first silver medal for the men’s national basketball team since 1989.

Panellio also promised that the national team would recover the gold from the SEA Games in Cambodia next year because he insisted there was “no excuse” for the embarrassing defeat.

“There are no excuses and we have learned valuable lessons. We will bounce back and regain our place to stay ahead, ”he concluded.
