RJ Abarrientos will play in the Korean Basketball League one season later with FEU

MANILA, Philippines – RJ Abarrientos’ UAAP career lasted only one season with Far Eastern University Tamaraws as he is set to sign Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in the Korean Basketball League (KBL).

According to Korean news site Jumpball, Ulsan’s imported glass will be the Philippine Guard under the Asian player quota.

After signing a two-year contract with Daegu KOGAS Pegasus, Abarrientos is set to join national teammate SJ Belangel.

The 22-year-old played impressively during the back-to-back friendly match of the Gilas Pilipinas against Korea, falling short in both games.

Abarrientos delivered 17 points in a 5-for-10 from their three-point line in their second exhibition game against Korea, who won 106-102 on Saturday.

He is part of the Giles Pilipinus Pool which will compete in the third window of the FIBA ​​World Cup Asian Qualifier against New Zealand on 30 June and India on 3 July.

In his first year with the Far Eastern University at the UAAP Season 84 Men’s Basketball Tournament, the 5-foot-11 guard averaged 13.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 32 percent shooting from deep.

The Abarrientos had at least three more games left to play with the Tamaraws, who finished fourth with a 7-7 record the previous season.
