Manila, Philippines — The country’s top sports sponsor Ramon S. Ang and Manny V. Panglinin held a “historic” closed-door meeting on Monday at the headquarters of the San Miguel Corporation in Mandaluyang.
According to the Philippine Basketball Association (SBP), Pangilinan, president and CEO of San Miguel Corporation and chairman and president of Metro Pacific Investment Corporation, discussed various issues in “business and sports.”
SBP President Al Panlilio, SMC Sports Director Alfrancis Chua and PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas were also present at the meeting.
The two sides are set to discuss a national men’s basketball program ahead of next year’s FIBA World Cup, where the Philippines is one of the organizers.
The Gilas Pilipinas have been closing a failed bid for a gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games, and bringing together the best possible team in future big tournaments, especially the World Cup, is a top priority.
