Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will leave the club at the end of his contract later this month, the Premier League side said on Wednesday.

France International re-signed for United from Juventus in 2016 but failed to deliver on its huge promise, often fighting for continuity at Old Trafford.

“The club may announce that Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United at the end of his contract at the end of June,” the club said in a statement.

“The Frenchman has enjoyed a long association with United, joining the club’s academy from Le Havre at just 16 years old.”

After coming through the youth ranks, Pogba left United for a free transfer to Juventus in 2012 before being lured by manager Jose Mourinho, who paid him a world-record fee of মিল 89 million ($ 111.96 million).

Pogba’s arrival was meant to signal a new era for United – a club competing for the Champions League – to be considered a title contender – but he was unable to continue despite winning the League Cup and Europa League in his first season. . .

A fall with Mourinho resulted in the 29-year-old being stripped of his co-captaincy and although he had a brief resurgence under Ole Gunnar Solsczar, his overall contributions were limited by injury or lack of support on the pitch.

Pogba played 27 games for United last season as they finished sixth in the league and missed out on a Champions League berth. He last played for United in April.

United added: “This is a low-key end to a United career that has brought many personal high moments, many beautiful goals, support and pieces of skill.”
