Manila, Philippines-TNT emerged as the first-leg winners of the PBA’s inaugural 3 × 3 showcase on Sunday at Robinsons Magnolia, Queens City, for the third straight conference.

Trappang Giga Baranga Ginbera, 18-15, Sambay de Leon and newcomer Grian Mendoza left behind great plays.

Coming in for injured Larvin Flores, Mendoza hit a solid layout to give TNT a 15-14 edge with 29.8 left.

Almond Vostoros gives the final touches, helping Trappang Giga go on a hunt that hasn’t been exactly fruitful for the last two conferences.

“As special as this is, we need to figure out how to be consistent,” coach Mau Belen told Inquirer.

“The wonderful enemy is at work. For us at the beginning of the conference, but when it is not important, “he said.

TNT, which has won P100,000 prizes, has always been upset during the grand finale.

“We can’t wait to get our big man back. He is recovering well from his injury, “said Belen Flores.

“Today we are celebrating. On Tuesday we went back to work. Hopefully, we can win a few more leg championships and then fight for the grand final. ”

De Leon scored seven points for TNT, Mendoza five, Vostores four and Ping Eximiano two.

Meanwhile, Joseph Eriobu and Pao Javelona joined hands in a third-place fight to help Purefoods survive 19-17 at Meralco.

The Titans settled for a purse worth P30,000, adding the Areobu nine and the Javelona eight.
