MANILA, Philippines – Northport kicked off its 2022 PBA Philippine Cup campaign with a winning note by beating Rain or Shine 94-81 at the Yanares Center in Antipolo City on Thursday night.

Robert Bolik spikes 22 points with six assists and Jamie Malonjo adds a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds to help the Batang Pier overcome the manpower crisis by knocking down the elasto painters 1-1.

Despite the absence of center Greg Slater and stretch forward Troy Ryke, Northport enjoyed a big lead of 21 points.

The Batang Pier was tapped for Terrafirma, which is recovering from a narrow Wednesday defeat at the hands of the NLEX. This Saturday too there will be a fight between the two clubs at the venue at the top of the hill.

Meanwhile, rain or shine, crowds at the Asia Arena at City Mall next week near Pass are hoping to return to their winning ways as they face the beloved Barange Ginebra.
