MANILA, Philippines – The Road Warriors warmed up in the second half on Wednesday afternoon to pull the bandwagon under Terafirma, 105-102, to begin their PBA Philippine Cup campaign.

JR Quinhan goes into the third frame to help the NLX beat the enemy 40-29. Calvin Oftana then poured 18 of his 20 points into the final frame to give the final touches to a thrilling comeback win at the Cuban Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Kevin Alas turned the game-high 24 points into a competition that coach Yingluck also thinks his charges would have been easily won had it not been for a temporary first two quarters.

“We are just happy with the way we have won. You can see the character of the team, “he said after the game. “We have shown that we can come back from 16 points down. So I see this as a good sign. “

“We could have easily won this if it hadn’t been for the first half,” he said, adding that the NLEX was “double digits behind” the temporary first two quarters.

Experienced Aldrich Ramos finished with 18 points as a teraformer. The newly-mixed most advanced player, Xuami Tianson, has chipped in just as much in an attempt to lose.

Ed Daquioag hit an unbalanced triple to bring Terafirma to 103-101 with seven ticks left. A couple of Justin Chua turnovers made things even more appealing but the Road Warriors won, thanks to the free-standing pairing of Aftana.

The NLX will shoot for a second-straight victory when powerhouse San Miguel Bear plays at the Inares Center in Antipolo City this Friday.

Meanwhile, Terafirma will also try to make a victory column at the hilltop venue with Northport this Saturday.
