PBA: Meralco Bolts win PH Cup bid against Phoenix Fuel Masters

MANILA, Philippines-Meralco worked together in the fourth quarter to decide a 109-98 win over Phoenix Super LPG on Saturday night which started a push for the Bolts in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Yanares Center in Antipolo City.

Rennell Huganatan dumped 10 of his 17 points in the fourth inning to backstop on 21 points, seven rebounds and seven assists on an equally impressive night for Chris Newsom when the Bolts came down from 15.

Aaron Black, Allen Maliksey, Raymond Almazan, and Bong Quinto finished with 12 or more as Meralco kept the Phoenix unbeaten in the tournament.

Fuel Masters have drawn 26 points from Jason Perkins. Matthew Wright chipped in at 16 and RJ Jazul as Fuel Master went down to 13 0-2.

The next in line for Norman Black and his charge is Converse, bringing a thrilling overtime win against conference finalist Magnolia.

Phoenix, meanwhile, is hoping to break down while playing Terafirma, an injury-hit club is also looking for its first win at the conference.
