MANILA, Philippines – Blackwater won its first ever 2022 PBA Philippine Cup, defeating defending champions TNT, 85-78, at the Yanares Center in Antipolo City on Thursday night.
Bossing used a tumultuous third quarter to move away from the enemy, and then returned to their veterans to return at the time of the trap gig.
JVee Casio scored the club’s final seven points, helping Blackwater out of the 78-all stalemate and ultimately claiming a victory that should serve as an encouraging sign for the franchise.
It may be recalled that Bossing won only one game at the last conference.
Casio, the team captain, finished with 22 points. Traveling Yusuf Taha and four others, including Ruki Ato Ular, made double-digit scores in the effort.
TNT received the product from Roger Pogba, who finished with 32 points. The perennial contestants slipped to 1-1 with Poy Erram and Jason Castro each making 10.
Blackwater faces Geneva next. The two clubs took to the field at the top of the hill at 6:30 pm on Sunday.
TNT can bounce back when playing with league newcomers Converse in previous competitions.
