MANILA, Philippines – Jason Castro hit a solid floater with 2.6 ticks left to give TNT a tough-ass-nail converge, 86-83, Sunday night at the Inares Center in the city of Antipolo.

Tropang Giga Cornerstone’s heroism saved the club from being exploited which could be another embarrassing outing of the defending Philippine Cup champions as they were in control of most of the competition.

“Thanks to the guy next to me who found a way to score in that final game,” TNT coach Chot Reyes said of his ward, finishing with a team’s best 17 points with four rebounds and three assists.

Castro’s shot allows TNT to regain the lead after a few errors made by the young FiberXers.

“Well, on the overall plan, it’s always important for us to be there and stay in the winning column, as other teams get Ws,” Reyes said of the win, which improved the club to 2-1.

“We still have a lot of games left, but it’s important that we take care of the teams that have a good chance of losing. For me, that’s the importance of playing ball, “said Reiss.

It was a truly tragic loss for the young Fiber Xerxes, who have been in massive uproar this week against Conference Bridemaid Magnolia. They slip to 1-2.

TNT is hoping to get a streak against the NLEX at the top of the hill this Thursday.

Converse, meanwhile, aims to stop the bloodshed if they go against Meralco in the nightcap of that plaid.
