Converse returned to Magnolia at the age of 89-82 on Friday night to take part in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup at the Yanares Center in Manila, Philippines-Antipolo City.

The FiberXers kept Timplados goalless in extra time to claim their first win in the league.

RK Ilagan was the youngest man to triple drill with 3.6 left to work overtime. He went on to do important plays overtime, greasing the entry of newcomers into the winning column after losing the opening night to Rain or Shine while caping off his career night.

Geron Teng led all scorers with 19 points. Maverick Ahanmisi and Ilagan made 14.

Ian Sangalang had 22 points for Magnolia, last year’s Conference Bridesmaids. Jio Jalalon and Calvin Abueva each finished 13th and Jerrick Ahanmisi finished 12th on the bench.

Magnolia actually led the competition with 20 points.

The Timplados play 1-0 Northport on Wednesday, hoping to return when the PBA goes to the Mall of Asia Arena in the city of Pasay.

Converge, meanwhile, will try to combine the win at the expense of TNT which is causing an embarrassing defeat to the league’s Dormat Blackwater. The two telco clubs will also meet at the top of the hill this Sunday.
