MANILA, Philippines – Blackwater guard Paul Desideri is expected to be out for a year after he suffered an ACL tear in his left knee.
Desidirio suffered an injury during Basing’s tune-up game against TNT Tropang Giger on Saturday.
“My worst fears have come true: today, I was told I had my ACL torn and had to have surgery next week. That means I have to quit basketball for a year, “Desidirio said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Basketball has always been a huge part of me and taking this break was unexpected because it’s painful to share with everyone.”

The 25-year-old Desidiri was also a key turning point for Blackwater last season.
Prior to the injury, Desidirio was initially inspired to play a bigger role in the upcoming PBA season 47 for Bossing, which began on Sunday.
Despite the setback, the former Philippine university standout promises to return better than ever.
“To my family, thank you for always being my rock. To my children Paula and Andres, you will be my inspiration when I try to be a better version of myself. To my friends, your support has always been invaluable, ”he said.
“Those who have seen me from a struggling rookie at UAAP, where I am now at Blackwater, to my fans: this experience has humbled me and will keep me grounded because I promise to use this time to do better every day and get stronger.” Come on. “
Blackwater, which won just one game last season, began its campaign against TNT on June 9 in the 2022-23 Philippine Cup.
