The Golden State Warriors won their fourth championship in eight years on Thursday behind an aging corps, but the oddsmakers believe that Stephen Curry, Clay Thompson and Drymond Green have chased at least one more title among them.
The Warriors are set to win the 2023 Championship right after the 2021-22 season ends, following Golden State’s 103-90 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
Fandewell’s Golden State is listed at +460, ahead of the Celtics (+650), the Brooklyn Nets (+700), the Milwaukee Box (+750), the Los Angeles Clippers (+850) and the Phoenix Suns (+950).
The Warriors have +500 odds in Caesars Sportsbook, where both Net and Celtic have +600 odds. They are followed by Box (+750), Sun (+800) and Clipper (+800).
Draftkings has a more level approach, including Warriors, Celtics, Nets and Clippers listed at +600. It is followed by The Box (+750) and Sun (+900).
FOX Bet has Warriors +550, Net & Celtics at +600 each, Clippers at +700, Box +750 and Sons +850.
After the team’s top tier, the teams with the next lowest odds in most sportsbooks are the Miami Heat, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Memphis Grizzlies and the Dallas Mavericks.
The teams facing the longest adversity – some +100,000 or more – are Sacramento Kings, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets. Both DraftKings and FOX Bet have Magic and Rocket at +200,000.
Next year’s regular-season NBA Most Valuable Player, Denver Nuggets Center’s Nicola Jokic – two-time reigning winner – is not a favorite.
DraftKings ‘Jokic is at +800, followed by 76ers’ big man Joel Mbid and Mavericks guard Luka Donsick, both at +550. Box forward Giannis Antetokunampo is at +850, followed by grizzly guard Ja Morant (+1000), net forward Kevin Durant (+1200), Celtics forward Jason Tatum (+1200) and Curry (+1700).
FanDuel’s 2022-23 MVP preferences include Donsik with +500 MBD (+550), Antetokunumpo (+700), Durant (+100), Jokic (+1200), Curry (+1300), Tatum (+1500). And Morant (+1600) is following him.
