Nebraska Texas WR Marcus adds their 15th relocation to Washington for 2022

The Nebraska football team has added their 15th player from the transfer portal for the 2022 season.

Texas wide receiver Marcus Washington is the latest transfer portal player to join the NU roster this season and add the 33rd overall scholarship. In the modern 85-scholarship era, Nebraska has added the most 33 new scholarship players.

Washington now joins the 10th Power Five Hoskers and second from the University of Texas.

Along with Washington, Nebraska has now added Power Five transfers from Alabama (2), Texas (2), Arizona State, Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas Tech.

Washington arrives at NU with a two-year qualification, including a redshirt season.

While at UT, Washington played current housewar quarterback Casey Thompson. In 2021, Washington played 434 snaps for Longhorn. In Omar Manning 415, Husker played the most snaps to return a wide receiver to the roster.

Washington finished the 2021 season with 26 catches for 269 yards and 17 catches in 30 targeted throws for two touchdowns.

His top game was against Kansas, where he made five catches and two touchdowns for 100 yards. He received 60 yards against Oklahoma State and 62 yards against Baylor.

In three seasons, Washington had 24 catches in 358 yards and 52 targeted throws for three touchdowns.

Washington has also shown the ability to play in multiple different positions on wide receivers. According to the PFF, he played 244 snaps in wide-outs and 188 snaps in slots.

Washington’s addition will also help offset the loss of Javier Bates, who took 283 snap actions in 2021. The Samurai Torre (594 Snap) was the only wide receiver on the Huskers 2021 roster that took more snaps than last year’s Washington.

He also added a third wide receiver from the transfer portal NU, joining Trey Palmer of LSU (389 snaps in 2021) and Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda (433 snaps) of New Mexico State.
