NCAA Volleyball: JRU returns to Latran to continue campaigning

MANILA, Philippines – Jose Rizal University beat Latron 13-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the Paco Arena after losing in the first set.

Sydney Rigos had three blocks for the 11-point effort, Renesa Melgar had 10 points and 13 digs and Dolly Verjosa contributed nine points for the Lady Bombers.

Sherina Urmeneta took the scoring mantle with 13 points for the Lady Knights, while Cha Kunada took 12 points.

Verzosai took a 16-12 lead in the second set for JRU and was averted by Jerry Lynn Laurent, a late Latron Rally, after Urmenata made an attack error.

In the next two sets of the two-hour, six-minute match, the Lady Bombers finally got into the groove of things.

Marion Alona, ​​JRU’s new Libero, made her presence felt with 19 digs and five receptions while Lorente tossed 23 great sets and went with two service aces.

The Lady Bombers, who have won four of the epidemic-infested 2020 seasons, are hoping to do well with an upgraded list in the Settings and Libero divisions.
