NBA: The Jazz are looking at Sam Castle as the next head coach

The Utah Jazz Philadelphia 76ers are adding assistant Sam Castle to their list of candidates for the position of head coach, The Athletic reported Wednesday.

Castle is on the Philadelphia 76ers crew, working as an assistant to Doc River. He previously worked with Reverse with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Already on the list of potential Utah coaches are former Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel, former Portland Trail Blazer head coach Terry Stouts, Boston Celtics assistant Joe Mazulla and Will Hardy, Milwaukee box assistant head Charles Leech, Milwaukee box assistant Charles Leech, . Heat assistants Chris Quinn and jazz assistants Alex Jensen and Lamar Skeeter.

Castle, 52, was a first-round pick for the Houston Rockets in the 1993 NBA Draft. He has spent 15 seasons in the league and won three NBA titles for eight teams.

The next jazz coach will replace Queen Snyder, who resigned after eight seasons with a 372-264 record. He has enjoyed six seasons in a row with a winning percentage above .580 and is second only to Hall of Fame member Jerry Sloan (1,127) in terms of wins for the franchise.
