Twice-time NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic has confirmed his long-term commitment to the Denver Nuggets and plans to sign a $ 260 million Supermax extension this summer, Athletic reported Friday.
There were some concerns about the future of the 27-year-old center in Denver following the departure of former general manager Tim Connelly to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves front office last week.
Jokic won his second consecutive MVP award in 2021-22 after stealing 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 1.47 in 74 games.
He led the NBA with 19 triple-doubles and became the first player in NBA history to record at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a single season.
Denver’s second-round pick in 2014, the four-time All-Star’s career averaged 19.7 points, 10.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 527 games (486 starts).
