Maryland has just landed its first state-internal commitment in the 2023 cycle with an announcement from Tamarus Walker. Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh stands out during his official visit to College Park this weekend.
“It has always been a dream school,” Walker said. “This is my home state and I have always wanted to wear it for my state and my city.
“Coming on this official tour, they really showed me love and I felt at home there,” he said. “Coach Braswell, the coach in my position, always kept it straight with me.
“It has played the role of school (former teammate) Dante Trader and Preston Howard will be there next year,” Walker said. “We’re looking for tackles now and I’m hiring across dmv to help do something special here in Maryland.”
Maryland now holds three commitments in their 2023 class, and this cycle of walkers is their first state-owned commitment. He is a strong run blocker who knows how to use his leverage to make holes for his running back. As a pass blocker, Walker has a strong understanding of the necessary techniques but must purchase the energy and conditioner program before he can rely on it consistently. Look for Walker to either see the time at the guard spot or go to the center as he matures.
