Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, recently announced by Forbes Magazine as the first active player in the 1 billion NBA, has a new goal – to own an NBA team in Las Vegas.
The 37-year-old playmaker has been featured in a social media video clip from the Friday edition of his talk show “The Shop” announcing his latest NBA wish.
“I want to own a team,” James said. “I definitely want to buy a team.
“I want a team in Vegas. I want a team in Vegas. “
Las Vegas has often been cited as a key location for an expansion club with Seattle, although NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said this week that there are no immediate plans for an expansion from the 30 teams.
But there are plans for a bigger new arena in Vegas, which is already home to an NFL and NHL team and is often cited as a possible relocation of Major League Baseball to Oakland A.
LeBron, a four-time NBA champion and four-time NBA most valuable player, owns the Springhill Company, an entertainment development and production company that produced “Space Jam: A New Legacy” – a film starring James was released last year.
He also owns a stake in Fenway Sports Group, which owns the MLB’s Boston Red Sox, the English Premier League football team Liverpool and the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.
