MANILA, Philippines – Juan Gomez de Liano will strengthen Zamboanga Valiantes in the Thai Super League from June 1 to 5 at the Central Ayutthaya.
Former Philippine university stallwart Reid is set to team up with Jantila, Das Essa and Denver Cadiz.
In addition to Gomez de Liano, Jamboanga National University standout Isa Geke also tapped when the team flew to Thailand on Thursday.
The Valiantes reached the quarterfinals of the ASEAN Basketball League 3 × 3 in Bali, Indonesia last April, where they paraded a different team.
Gomez de Liano was with Platinum Karaoke, winning bronze in the tournament.
Japan’s Tokyo Dime, India’s Kaga Basketball, Singapore’s Team BG, Thailand’s Sniper X and Shoot It Dragons, and another Filipino team, Pretty Hiz, faces Jamboanga.
Atenio will be represented by standout Rafi Verano, PBA veteran J. Washington, Travis Jackson and Marcus Hammonds.
According to team owner Mike Venezuela, the Valiant are focusing on 3 × 3 at the moment because he believes it is a game where Filipinos can excel.
In addition to basketball, Zamboanga also supports boxers, including Olympic bronze medalist and four-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Yumi Marshall, WBO intercontinental bantamweight champion Jonas Sultan and former world champion Milan.
