Japan-Philippines men’s volleyball friendship canceled due to health reasons

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) canceled an international friendly match between the men’s national volleyball team and Japan at the San Juan Arena on Thursday due to health and safety protocol.

The federation made the announcement late Wednesday, but PNVF did not release other details of the cancellation of the International Challenge.

“Details of ticket returns will be announced through TicketNet. PNVF apologizes to the supporters who were waiting for the match, “read the statement.

In the second week of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) from June 21 to 26, the men’s national team, led by Japan V-League stars Brian Bagunas and Mark Espazo, was scheduled to take on the Japanese.

Japan have won three of their first four matches in Week 1 in Brasilia, Brazil.

The Japanese national team will open their Quiz City leg against Argentina next week at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday.

The Philippine men’s volleyball team has another scheduled international friendly match on June 26 against Germany.
