MANILA, Philippines – Brazilian Julie Mezabarba was rescued by Janelin Olsim in a split decision at ONE 158 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday.
The 25-year-old Filipino fighter got rid of the Brazilian kickboxer’s tactics and struck in time to complete his winning comeback at the One Championship stage.
Mezabarba, 23, knocked Olsim down every round with his guillotine choke. He grounded Olsim twice in the first round.
But Muay Thai specialist recovered and was able to stay in the three-round match.
After finishing bronze at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, Olsim limited his engagement to a win against Mezabarber.
Tim Locke last saw Stallwart in action in October 2021, losing to Indian wrestler Savant Ritu Fogat in the ONE: NEXTGEN’s One Atomweight World Grand Prix semifinal.
One with his Malaysian star Jihin Radjuan One: He was supposed to face bad blood in February 2022 but had to withdraw due to injury.
Olsim improved to a 6-3 record with a fourth defeat at the hands of Mezabarber.
The Brazilian went down to a 9-4-1 (win-lose-draw) card and exploited his second consecutive draw, including a loss to the No. 1 stamp, by a unanimous decision last October.
