MANILA, Philippines: EJ Obiena will miss the next two tournaments due to COVID-19.
Obina was scheduled to compete in the Bislet Games in Oslo, Norway on Thursday and the Meet de Paris in France on Sunday.
“Unfortunately, the reason I missed these two competitions is because of Kovid. I was infected with Covid a few days ago and I am currently quarantined at Formia at home, “the Paul Vault star announced on his Instagram on Tuesday.
Less than a month ago, Obienna won gold in the European City of Sports La’Aquila with a clearance of 5.85 meters.
Obina, 26, is expected to return to BAUHAUS-galan 2022 on June 30 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Obina, who easily defended her Southeast Asian Games title easily last month, holds the Asian record at 5.93m.
World record holder Mondo Duplantis of Sweden will compete in the Bislet Games where he wants to win a gold medal. Duplantis raised his record mark to 6.20m to win the world indoor title in Belgrade last March.
