Earling Holland says his move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City is a “great step” for his career as he aims to move the Norwegian Premier League champions to a more silver lining.

City announced last month that they had lost competition from top European clubs to agree a deal with the German giants after triggering a ক্ল 51 million ($ 63 million) release clause reported by Holland.

The 21-year-old’s move was officially completed on Monday when Holland signed a five-year deal to follow in the footsteps of his father, Alfie Inge Holland, who played for City between 2000 and 2003.

“This is a proud day for me and my family. I’ve always seen City and have loved doing it in recent seasons, ”Holland said.

“I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I’m confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me, and I can’t wait for the pre-season to start.

City are looking for an expert striker to replace Sergio Aguero, who left the club last year following the arrival of one of the best talents in world football.

City’s attempts to sign England captain Harry Kane from Tottenham last summer failed, but Pep Guardiola’s men were still enough to pipe Liverpool to a point to win their fourth Premier League title in five seasons.

However, the English champions again failed to win the Champions League for the first time, losing 6-5 to Real Madrid in a dramatic semifinal.

Holland has scored 23 goals in 19 Champions Leagues for Dortmund and Arab Salzburg, and City will be expected to take the lead when it becomes the most important in Europe.

“There are a lot of world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the best managers of all time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfill my ambitions,” he added.

“You can’t help but appreciate their style of play. It’s exciting and they create a lot of opportunities, which is perfect for a player like me.”

Holland was almost one of the top clubs in Europe for its low market price buyout clause and stunning record of 86 goals in 89 games for Dortmund.

On his move from Salzburg to Dortmund in January 2020, he rejected the progress of Manchester United and the decision to choose Etihad as his destination was a coup for the growing condition of the city.

“His rise is remarkable, but he is still only 21. His best years are ahead of him, and we are confident he will be able to do better with Pep,” said City Football Director Tikki Begiristen.

“He is a huge talent and one of the best strikers in Europe in the last few seasons.

“His scoring record is exceptional and his performances in Borussia Dortmund and especially in the Champions League have proved that he can be successful at the highest level.”
