In Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 56 card main event in Las Vegas, Alexander Volkov did not allow Zyrginho Rosenstroke to hang on too long in their light heavyweight fight.
Russia’s Volkov (35-10, 9-4 UFC), losing in his most recent bout, fell to Tom Espinol on March 19 at 3:45 in the first round with a straight armbar.
On Saturday, Volkov defeated Rosenstrouk (12-4, 6-4 UFC) even faster, winning the first round at 2:12 in TKO.
After the fight, Volkov said he saw his chance when he saw his opponent “go to the cage.”
“I know he doesn’t have a good defense (at the moment). I just look at him and go ahead for the knockout. Good fight, “Volkov said.
In the co-main event, another Russian, Movsar Ivloyev Featherweit, defeated Dan Igeke of the United States (15-6) by a unanimous decision in the matchup to remain unbeaten 16-0.
Other winners were lightweight Lucas Almeida, women’s flyweight Karin Silva, flyweight Ode ‘Osborne and light heavyweight Alonzo Manifield.
