MANILA, Philippines – Alex Ella stunned Chile’s Daniel Seguel 6-1, 6-2 on Wednesday to advance to the third round of Spain’s W60 Madrid.

The 17-year-old Filipino Tess dropped the No. 11 seed after a one-hour, 18-minute double fight in the second round of the $ 60,000 tournament.

Ella will face No. 7 Evan Cavalle-Reimers of Spain in Round 3 on Thursday.

“I am just happy to be in the final 16 of another W60k event. Let go for more! ” Ila wrote on her social media that she saw her third professional headline.

Reimers defeated compatriot Ainhoa ​​Atucha Gomez 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 in their second round doubles.

Last year, Ila won her first Pro title, beating the Reimers 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in the W15 Manako final.

However, Ila and Taiwan’s partner N Xu Liang lost 6-2, 6-4 to fourth-seeded Hungarian Taima Babos and Valeria Savinich in the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament.

“Thanks also to my partner N Shu Liang (TPE) for teaming up in the doubles. We finish our tournament by finishing a doubles quarter final, ”said Ila.
