1. Real Racing HD

Real Racing HD continues to be consistently listed in the Top 10 purchased apps in the iTunes store. Firemint’s Real Racing HD for iPad is big brother of the same title for the iPhone. At $9.99 Real Racing HD makes an excellent use of the iPad hardware and software to provide an unparalleled gaming experience. The title scores a 4+ star rating on the iTunes store and has mostly positive reviews. But the game is not simple as start and go, it requires a bit of training and experience to control the game. Overall one the best gaming experience on the iPad.

2. Asphalt 5 HD


Among the 3 titles reviewed, this is the cheapest title going out for $6.99 and rated 4 star on the app store. This wildly popular racing franchise is now available on the iPad. HD-quality graphics for cars and environments. There are over 30 licensed cars and motorbikes from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ducati and more in 12 locations. You can challenge yourself to 8 different racing events from the Drift Contest to Chase mode and varied track surfaces including ice, mud and snow. The game is available in Local Wi-Fi and Online Multiplayer modes. Asphalt 5 HD can be characterized more in the Arcade category whereas the other 2 titles are more on the Sim side.

3. Need for Speed Shift

EA’s Need for Speed Shift used to be theĀ  most expansive among the 3 titles. Going out at $9.99 now, it also gets a 4 star rating on the Itunes store. This game has the most advanced graphics and controls among the 3 titles. Reviews have mentioned less number of cars as compared to Asphalt 5, but then if you are an Need for Speed series fan and have played the iPhone version, you’ll simply love the bigger screen size and better performance thanks to Apple’s new A4 processor.

If you are looking for quick fun Asphalt 5 HD is the title you are looking for. Now with its reduced pricing, Need for Speed Shift is a better contender in the Sim side of car racing. Expect price drop for Real Racing HD now too.
